SnapTax Privacy Policy

Summary: SnapTax stores your receipt data
locally on your device. We only send receipt images to
Claude AI for processing. We do not sell your data.
1. Information We Collect
SnapTax collects the following information:
- Receipt images and data: Photos you
scan and the extracted information (merchant name, date,
amount, category). This data is stored locally on your
device using Apple's Core Data framework.
- Mileage entries: Business trip
information you manually enter, stored locally on
your device.
- Purchase information: If you subscribe
to SnapTax Pro, Apple processes your payment. We receive
only confirmation of your subscription status.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Receipt processing: When you scan a
receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI API
to extract receipt details. This transmission is encrypted
and the image is not stored by Anthropic beyond the
processing request.
- Local storage: All your financial data
is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to
our servers.
- App improvement: We may collect
anonymous crash reports to improve app stability.
3. Third Party Services
- Anthropic Claude AI: When you scan
a receipt, the receipt image is temporarily transmitted
to Anthropic's Claude AI API for text extraction and
categorization. Images are processed in real-time and
are not stored by Anthropic beyond the immediate
processing request. Users are informed and must consent
before any data is transmitted. See Anthropic's privacy

4. Data Storage and Security
Your financial data is stored locally on your device
using Apple's encrypted Core Data framework. Your Claude
API key is stored in Apple's secure Keychain. We do not
operate servers that store your personal financial data.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information
with third parties except as described in this policy
(Claude AI for receipt processing, Apple for payments).
6. Children's Privacy
SnapTax is not directed at children under 13. We do not
knowingly collect information from children under 13.
7. Your Rights
You can delete all your data at any time from
Settings → Delete All Receipts. Deleting the app removes
all locally stored data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We will notify
you of significant changes through the app.
